Tour to Troia, Alcácer do Sal, Carrasqueira and Comporta

Roman Ruins of Troia, Alcácer do Sal, Carrasqueira and Comporta—Go deep into the exciting history of Troia and Alcácer do Sal, visit picturesque villages in Alentejo's Coast and finish your day with a Wine tasting in the glamorous town of Comporta

Alentejo's little-known but stunningly beautiful tour will take us first to the Ruins of the largest fish-salting production center of the Roman Empire at Troia, where you will learn about its glory and its fall into decadence in a fascinating history that lasted six centuries.

Our next stop will be in the enchanting town of Alcácer do Sal. Bathed by the Sado River, this 3000 year-old town was chosen for royal weddings due to its royal importance, and as Alentejo's Coast wealthiest town, it has been filled with treasures inside: ancient artifacts, statues, manor houses, churches and convents. On top of the hill its imposing Castle still preserves its medieval atmosphere, as well as offering astonishing views of the town center and of the Rice Fields and Salt Pans, which made the town rich.

The tour will continue to the town of Carrasqueira to see and take some photos of the Palafitic Pier and its iconic striking homes: rustic cabanas and thatched-roof huts, both considered a highlight of the region. In the meantime we will have some free time to lunch in one of the many local restaurants (meal not included).

After lunch, we will visit the Herdade da Comporta where the art of winemaking awaits you. There, we will participate in a wine tasting, while listening to the stories of local wine producers, before you enjoy some free time to stroll in the town center of Comporta, considered the Hamptons of Europe due to its mixture of traditional fisherman's houses and luxury villas, haute restaurants and artistic vintage shops.
