BEJA WALKING TOUR | The "Queen City of the plain lands" impresses everyone with its rich and diversified heritage

Since its foundation, the 2500 year-old-town of Beja has been the richest and most important historic town on Southern Alentejo, and since then has been filled with churches and convents of unexpected beauty, as well as several monuments that still today remind us of the presence of many civilizations.

With this high cultural and environmental interest, we will start our tour visiting the Queen Leonor Museum, a former convent known for its splendorous baroque church, its collection of glazed tiles, and for the platonic love story of the nun Mariana Alcoforado and a Marchal of France. After, we will walk through the town's iconic streets and neighborhoods until we reach the República Square in the town center, which will lead us to magnificent Our Lady of Prazeres Church, known as Alentejo´s sistine chapel.

To round off the visit, we will use our energy to climb up to the top of the castle and admire the impressive views over the town and the plain lands that surround Beja, and that will leave you speechless.
